Join Concreamus and the Kupenta Singers on February 22nd, 2025, at Eglinton St. George United Church, 35 Lytton Blvd, Toronto, ON M4R 1L2 for Youth—a choral concert experience celebrating the power of young voices. Through a compelling selection of contemporary repertoire by living choral composers, Youth explores themes of light, dreams, and connection, showcasing music that resonates deeply with today’s youth. What makes this event truly extraordinary is that every piece performed will be a premiere, composed by talented Canadian composers. This celebration of creativity and collaboration reflects the commitment that both groups have towards celebrating and uplifting talented artists across the Canadian choral community.
 
This program captures the unique experiences of young people in today’s world. The stories are heartfelt, thought-provoking, and inspiring. This promises to be an incredible evening for anyone who believes in the power of youth, music, and the importance of nurturing the voices of the future. Join us to witness the birth of new Canadian choral masterpieces.

** Content Warning – This concert features several pieces that explore themes of mental health, including references to self-harm and suicide. These works are included on the program to create a space for understanding and reflection on complex and sensitive topics. It is meaningful to honour these important conversations through music.

Concreamus is a 40 voice new music choir dedicated to innovation in the choral arts and the creation and performance of excellent new works by young composers. The group is made up of singers, students, composers, and educators from around the GTA. Concreamus, Latin for “we create together,” encourages a creative dialogue between composers and performers through which both groups can offer their insight and be inspired in new ways. It is committed to creating opportunities for new vocal music to be developed and presented, as well as exploring new sounds and vocal textures through improvisation and collaborative exploration. 
 
To date, the choir has premiered over 30 choral works by emerging composers. Many of their premiere performances can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube. Concreamus has collaborated with various musical organisations, including appearing in concert with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Green Room Music Collective, Sinfonietta Aionia, at SING! Festival Toronto, and at several concerts as part of the University of Toronto’s Composer Concert series.
